Below the Noise Floor

The Noise Floor is the signal created from the sum of all the noise sources and unwanted signals within a measurement system. Signals below the Noise Floor cannot be measured.

What’s going on here?

I like thinking about possibilities.

I read a few things that make me think of the possibilities they imply.

It’s fun to think but I usually don’t do it for very long, either because there’s no point, or I get distracted. This blog is a point, and working on updates for it will shield me from distractions. Really, this is an exercise for myself, intended to make me think about things for longer than I usually do.

Every week I will choose something I have read about recently, and explore what it might suggest. I like drawing these mind maps, as it allows for a faster, simpler, nonlinear method of expression. I also kid myself that they could become little pieces of “art” of their own accord, eventually. They are done on an A3 pad, which is a constraint I need – otherwise I could expand for ever.

I will also write a little something about a couple of points on the map to accompany the diagram. These commentaries will vary in length and focus. I like writing, too, and it will certainly allow me to express things that didn’t fit into the main map.

Eventually I hope to re-draw some maps (or sub-maps) in a more designed, stylised, infosthetic way. I dig that sort of thing but have realised it takes more time than I expected; as such, it might take me some time to work up to it.

That’s what this site is. Thanks for dropping in.
